Flight / Fight / Fall / Function

I took a leap of faith. I stepped way out of my comfort zone. I opened myself up and I humbled myself down for something that made me feel the happiest I have felt in a long time. I ended up learning that I am A hopeless romantic stuck in a world where commitment and being ready always seems to be a problem.

A few years ago I spoke to someone about starting school and my response was, "I cant start school right now. Everything is messed up, I just got laid off from my job I cant think about school." I will never forget the response I received, "When will you ever be ready? When is everything going to be perfect? Have you met anyone who waited or knew when that "perfect" time would come around?"

Truth be told no one has their "shit" together. No one has "shit" figured out. "Shit" doesn't just happen. And "Shit" will not get better unless you want it to.

Life is to short - Take the Chance before it expires

Nothing in life is guaranteed but how you live the moment is what will matter the most to you. Don't put off what you can do today until tomorrow; tomorrow is never guaranteed. The moment may not be available later; take full advantage even if you are not ready.

All of the memories created will mold you into the strongest being you can become. Don't change who you are because others may not understand you. Nothing in life will be easy nor does it come easy to us. Everyday will not be sunny and the "perfect" day will not exist unless you work on making everyday as perfect as you can. Without the work you can not expect to see any results. You can not keep bad company and expect to advance to the top.

In a room full of potential the only one that catches my eye is the one that is not ready. In a room full of potential the one I wanted had me take many leaps of faith to only fall flat on my face. I sit and wonder if Karma is kicking in and perhaps that is why I find myself swimming against the tide once again unable to tread water.

Perhaps my wings gave up. Perhaps the weight was too much to keep my up that high. Perhaps I was flying faster than my heart could handle. Perhaps I was blinded and not listening.

If we do not take the leap we will never know if we can fly. However falling is never easy. Falling on your knees; picking up the broken pieces is never easy. The lesson learned sometimes becomes questionable.
If we do not make mistakes how will we learn?

We can sit and feel sorry for ourselves - usually I was great at this I either ate my emotions or punished myself because I didn't understand why others did not treat or invest as much into our relationship or friendship the way I did. Feeling sorry for ourselves accomplishes nothing and we should never sit and let the depression take over. We can not help but cry sometimes; take the tears and turn them into the fuel needed to continue to smile and be great.

Those who value your true being will always remain around. The person that truly cares about you will always make time for you. Your happiness is dependent on your actions. You can not sit and wait for someone else to create your happy ending when everyone's happy ending and purpose here on Earth is different. Find someone whom you can build and be great around; although your purposes may be different, your goals, morals and train of thought may align imperfectly in a world that strives for perfection.

Bitter or Better

It can take a series of unfortunate situations for someone to become bitter. These moments can either make us or break us. What we learn from these situation is what we should be focused on. However when life gets tough and we are busy trying to figure things out it can be very easy to become bitter. We can take our our misfortunes on those around us or even on ourselves. The timing for everything is never going to be right. Nothing is ever going to be perfect. And everything in life is going to take a whole hell of a lot to get done. There may be an easier way to do something but it may not always be the best option.

Sometimes we care so much and invest our heart into things expecting or anticipating different results. Sometimes we rush. Other times we drag our feet. Don't put something to the side that you feel 1,000% strongly about today. The season may never be 100 ready but your heart may be more invested than you think. Sometimes the best stories come from the storms that we experience and endure. Those tears, broken hearts, scraped knees, will all be worth it later on.

Believing in Yourself

I often hear how people wait for others before they can accomplish something. We should never wait for someone else to fulfill who we are meant to be. We should not search for our "soul mate" and forget to live for ourselves. I am guilty of once limiting myself to doing things because I did not want to "do things alone" and I wanted the company of someone else because I mean we all love experiencing things with others. However we must also feel comfortable enough to explore the world alone because we all have different goals and will all want to take different paths and explore different roads.

We can not sit and wait for someone to love us the way we should be loved. Spoil yourself daily no one will love or invest as much time into YOU as YOU can. I always waited and never really ventured out to do things alone. Whom was I waiting for if everyone I knew was doing something different than I wanted to do. We are all on different levels and on different paths. The timing is never going t be right, and the problems never fade away. The time to do it is now. Over thinking will not help. Quitting will set you back. So simply take the leap and just get it done. Don't worry about the end just start and keep going.

I don't have any cheering me on. I did not have a support system. Sick days don't exist when you're a single mom. I had many bad days and a few good days. I went from thinking I had it all under control to losing it all and having nothing. I started from the bottom, settled in the middle, and I will forever strive to get to the top. We will fall 100 times and we can stay down 100 times or get up and push for another day because we will never be defeated. Someone somewhere is having a worse day. Be blessed for the breath, vision, hearing, and ability that you do have today. Being miserable allows us to obtain negative company. Smile and let in those positive healthy vibes.
Smile while you still have teeth.

I lost my brother in 2010 and in 2011 I signed up and stared my journey as a College Student for a 2nd time. This time I knew that I was not giving up and I did not care how long it took me but I was going to make it. Here we are in 2016 and I can say that I MADE IT. I DID IT. I BEAT THE ODDS. I supported myself. I encouraged myself. I stood up all those nights to meet deadlines for myself. I pushed myself to the finish line. I did not wait for anyone to help me. I got it done. I could have made a million excuses and I could have quit when the tough moments socked me in the face and left me on my knees crying. These moments created me into the being I am today so how can I not say I will not embrace those heartaches.

Don't put your dreams on hold because of doubt, comfort zones are where dreams go to die.

In 2013 I decided to start my weight-loss journey. I believed that I could do it but I did not believe that my body could attain such high levels of success. I did not sit and wait for a Gym partner, I did not have a plan, I did not have a personal trainer, or a fancy meal plan. I went in head first and I just started off slow and moved my way on up. I lost myself throughout the process and let the noise take over. Compete with no one but yourself. Worry about yourself and do not worry about the greener grass on the other side it's probably only greener because its artificial. Worry about your own grass!

I must say that nothing feels better than being able to achieve things that others said you will never be able to do or things that others felt they could never do. We can all take the easy way or we can work our butt off and take the stairs because there will never be a elevator to success. Power up those legs and push to the end because no one will enjoy the finish line as much as you will. Letting yourself down should never be an option. Put your blinders on, insert your favorite motivational music, and demolish those goals. We all have the same 24 hours to work with; utilizing them is up to you.

I can go around and brag about being a single mom and being the first one in my family to Graduate College while also maintaining a healthy lifestyle and losing 100 pounds. However silence speaks in volumes. Rejoice for yourself not because you want to broadcast it for the "likes." Toot your own horn. Buy your own flowers if you want some. Take yourself out to dinner if your hungry. Remember at the end of the day the only person you have is yourself; no one else will endure the tears and rough seas that you swam through to get to the end. If you do not believe in yourself who will? Do it for yourself because you can and because you are not afraid to eat alone.

Love Yourself. Take Care of Yourself. Rest up daily. Hydrate your soul & skin. Relax your mind & spirit. stay humble and BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.

Believe. Achieve. Succeed.

Holding On & Letting Go.

Holding on. I guess we all sort of hold on to things because of a various amount of reasons. However letting go is healthy and we should never fear having to let go or parting ways. We will never know if we can fly if we do not take the first leap. It is scary but if we do not take that leap we will never know..

Holding on to things can settle us into deep comfort zones that can debilitate us from our future goals. I held on to everything that I could because I felt like I had "lost" so much that I did not want to lose anything else. Holding on to things broke me down in ways that I did not see but I could feel. I was unmotivated to change because "everything was just fine." I held on to toxic relationships that did not provide me with anything but a broken and bruised soul because I felt that was all I could get or deserved therefore I invested my all into others that did not deserve my time of day time and time again. The past would come knocking and I answered knowing what the results would be. I questioned myself when deep down I knew I was not in the wrong; however I still held on because I felt that was "all I had." I opened up to those who quickly went off to use this information as their personal form of entertainment as they passed judgement.

When the fog clears you realize you do not have to hold on to anything that causes you hurt, grief, or discomfort. I should not be climbing mountains for others who will not do the same. Understanding your value is the first step to believing that you do not have to hold on to anything in order to be happy. You can not make any changes until you are able to see clearly. I was stuck under a dark cloud for a few years because I blamed myself for the actions of others.

Whomever wants you to be apart of their life will make the time and effort needed. The important ones will not make excuses as none as ever needed. Those whom are still growing will not understand that any type of relationship is a two way street and both parties must invest equally. Treating others fairly and with the same respect that you require. We do not compete with one another rather we lift and help one another. If your inner circle is not doing this it is okay to let it go and move on we do not have to hold on to everything. Everything serves a certain purpose and once that purpose is fulfilled perhaps it is time to close that chapter and move on to the next life lesson.

When we hold on to things we can drown our own selves. We can set ourselves up for failure by keeping the company that is not in the best interest for where you are headed. Never hold on to something because you think that is the "best you could do." We can do whatever we desire. Letting go will hurt. It will be silent. It will be lonely. You will question a lot of things. You will wonder. You will cry and feel as if you just want to hold on but it takes us being a little unsteady in order to find the balance that we need to stand on our own two feet.

Nothing is easy but it will be worth it.

We should not let anything hold us back from accomplishing what we desire. Someone will always have something negative to say but I am pretty sure they will never do what it takes to do whatever you are trying or already doing. We should let go of something daily and pick something new up. It does not have to be materialistic. We can let go of old habits and begin new ones. We can try new recipes, workouts, talk to new people, take a new route, try on a different color top, change up your hairstyle, or sit outside and just admire things that you didn't notice the day before.

Why continue opening the door to the same excuses and relationships when you can begin opening new doors and exploring new possibilities. Everyone will have something negative to say and we can believe that and not live for ourselves, or we can take that as the fuel we need to light our fire. No one needs to believe in YOU because you know what it takes and no one knows YOU better. Do what it takes and don't look back those who matter will be right by your side running with you not secretly competing against you and putting you down.
